The disclosure
BuyShears.com is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate, BuyShears.com earns from qualifying purchases.
Our Amazon Associates tag is bbg0f4-20. It is appended to every product link on
this site, and it is how Amazon attributes a purchase to us.

The commission is paid by Amazon out of its own margin. It does not increase what you pay, and it does not affect your rights as a purchaser.
How affiliate links appear on this site
- Every affiliate link is marked with
rel="sponsored nofollow"in the page's HTML, which is the standard machine-readable signal that a link is paid. - Every page carrying product recommendations includes a visible disclosure above the recommendations, not buried in a footer.
- Affiliate links open in a new tab and are always labelled as leading to Amazon.
- Purely educational pages — the technique guides, the maintenance guides, the glossary — carry no affiliate links at all.
Why we link to search results rather than individual listings
Our product links go to Amazon search results, not to specific product pages. This is deliberate and worth explaining, because it is unusual:
- Shear listings are unstable. They sell out, get relisted by different sellers, change ASIN, and get replaced by superficially similar products. A direct link is frequently broken or, worse, quietly pointing at something else within months.
- Seller matters enormously in this category. Professional shears are heavily counterfeited. A search result lets you compare sellers, check feedback and read what warranty is being offered — which is exactly the diligence you should be doing. See spotting counterfeit shears.
- It keeps us honest. We cannot point you at one specific listing we happen to prefer.

How to judge us
The honest test of an affiliate site is how often it tells you not to buy. A large part of this site is dedicated to keeping the shear you already own working: the drop test, the diagnosis tables, the sharpening guide. Every time that advice works, we earn nothing — which is rather the point.
